This is the EASIEST way to install a fan behind your Orion XS or Orion XS 1400. The new 80mm fan operates at 3000RPM's and is virtually silent. The built-in temperature sensor turns on around 100F and off around 84F. This keeps your Orion at a steady 86F temperature as shown by our test results in the embedded test video below, as compared to 130-200F commonly seen on the back of these units when operated without a fan.
The Orion will eventually ramp down in power production after it reaches a maximum operating temperature (200F) if installed in a non-ventilated environment (without a fan). Cooling your Orion allows it to keep it operating at maximum power output continuously, and lowers the operating temperature to a safe level (~86F).
The fan should be powered by the house battery, so select 12V if using a 12V house battery and 24V if using a 24V house battery.
The Fan Adapter is designed and printed in-house by Mobile Solar Consulting. The Fan Adapter, 80mm fan, and temp sensor come pre-assembled. The external pin terminal and mounting screws are included in the package. The wire harness is sold separately.
